Here’s a typical scenario here: we get an idea to pull off a CNY themed photoshoot. The standard requirement is naturally one red car. But in true #MTHRKFNWIN fashion, we end up with two red cars, with a few extras. Hey man, we’re not complaining! Thanks to our friends and readers, we managed to flip what seemed like a fairly vanilla shoot, to the biggest shootout we’ve ever attempted.
Those of you who have been following us for some time, you may recognize some of the pics above. Those are the few times we managed to assemble two (or three) cars for a shootout, and if we’re honest, we’ve always enjoyed the execution part of the process. But these shoots are difficult to co-ordinate with respective owners and extremely time consuming – we rely heavily on our imagination to mentally place the cars in our location, then park the cars accordingly. Apart from the constraints we’ve mentioned, there’s also the matter of space and location, safety and security, along with the weather wildcard which we have zero control of.
A method we often turn to, as a way of countering some of these challenges, is to shoot after the sun has set. This at the very least allows us to control the flow of light (although we still need to make small sacrifices to the weather Gods) to get the results we imagined.
Back to our story – what started off as a one red car shoot, ended up as an seven car shootout. The effort to wrap this up was immense; from placement of cars within frame, to lighting up the cars individually. To add intensity to the story, we had police personnel roll up asking us to vacate the area… this meant that we unfortunately had to make calls to tell the other cars heading over to stay away.
So we did what we could, took as many pictures as possible, wrapped up, and we watched as the cars rolled their separate ways. We want to take this opportunity to thank all the people who turned up in a show of support for us, as well as to Mercedes-Benz Malaysia for rolling in with a backup! In case you were wondering, the seven cars that rolled up comprised of 2x (two) Ferrari 458 Italia, Nissan GTR, Porsche 993 Turbo, Porsche 964 RUF, Porsche 964 SC, and Merc’s AMG C63S Sedan. We wish we could have spent more time with all the cars individually, but no worries as we will make up for this someday soon 😉
