Naza Italia, the official importer and distributor for Maserati in Malaysia, have earlier today introduced the Maserati Levante S. The Levante S made its world premiere at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show with an array of new features, including Electric Power Steering as well as the addition of new functions to drive assistance systems.
Powering the Maserati Levante S is a twin-turbo 3.0 litre V6 that makes 430 hp at 5,750 rpm and 580 Nm at 5,000 rpm. The motor is mated to an eight-speed ZF gearbox with four driving modes – “Normal”, “Ice”, “Sport”, and “Off-road”. This is good enough for a century sprint of 5.2 seconds, towards a terminal velocity of 264 km/h. The V6 engine’s specific torque of 194 Nm per litre is noted as best in the luxury SUV class and is on par with its competitors in terms of fuel consumption, with 10.9 l/100km on the NDEC test cycle, and CO2 emissions (253 g/km).
Maserati has injected extra power and performance into an already impressive luxury SUV. The petrol powered Levante S has been eagerly awaited and will no doubt be a popular addition to Malaysia’s luxury automotive market,” said Datuk Wira Hj SM Faisal Tan Sri SM Nasimuddin, Group Executive Chairman of Naza World Group of Companies.
The new car features state-of-the-art braking system that deals with the car’s heft and performance. The front system sees 6-piston aluminum monobloc calipers from Brembo, working on 380 mm drilled discs. On the rear, you get 320 mm x 22 mm ventilated drilled discs. There;s also a new hydraulic power steering with electronic power steering to improve handling and driving comfort, supporting the new Advanced Driving Assistance System (ADAS) which has more functions, including Highway Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist and Traffic Sign Recognition.
Also new is Maserati’s Air Suspension, electronically controlled shock absorbers and the Q4 AWD system, now included as standard with the Levante S. On the inside, you get a massive 8.4 inch Maserati Touch Control Plus (MTC+) display, a driving mode cluster button, and an aluminum rotary knob which controls the air suspension height.
The Maserati Levante S will be offered in Malaysia in two trim levels – GranLusso and GranSport. While the former gives emphasis on luxury, recognizable by its metallic-finish front skid plates and roof rails, GrandLusso badges on the front wings, body coloured side skirts, and 19 inch Zefiro alloys. Slip inside and you get the choice of Ermenegildo Zegna silk or full premium Italian Upholstery. The latter trim features sportier aesthetics – Piano Black front grille, skid plates and roof rails, GranSport badges on front wings, blue inserts on all Trident and Saetta logos and red brake calipers behind 20 inch Nereo wheels. You also get carbon trim and a sport steering wheel.
