Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) have finally added the stellar C63S Coupé to their model line-up, next to its saloon brethren. At a glance, the C63S Coupé strikes an imposing sight; wider on both front and rear, the coupé gets a re-designed front and rear, along with new side walls and massive flared wheel arches that gift it with a more aggressive stance.
Similar to other AMGs, the C63S Coupé gets motivation from the AMG developed 4.0-litre biturbo V8, which makes a heady 510hp between 5,500-6,250rpm and a monstrous 700Nm of torque from 1,750-4,500rpm, mated to AMG’s SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed box.
No surprise then, that this car is quick – century sprint completed in just 3.9 seconds, and on towards a terminal velocity (electronically limited) of 290km/h, with the AMG Driver’s Package.
Like the rest of the AMG pack, the C63S Coupé gets a performance exhaust system, with a choice of three exhaust modes, mated with each individual driving mode. A neighbour friendly exhaust note when left in ‘Comfort’, while ‘Sport+’ and ‘Race’ modes sure to crumple some eyebrows when you rumble home in the middle of the night.
In typical MBM fashion, early birds have the option of ticking the exclusive Edition 1 checkbox. While the Edition 1 will not have any performance gains, customers who go down this route will get to choose between two exterior packages – either sport stripes rendered in graphite grey matte and matching rim flanges for any exterior paint finish, or a striking designo magno selenite grey matte paint with yellow stripes and matching rim flanges, inspired by the 2016 International Motor Show launch version.
There’s more, of course – forged lightweight 5-twin spoke wheels in matte black, wrapped in 255/35/R19 rubbers in front and staggered 285/30/R20 rubbers on the rear. You also get a larger front spoiler, specific side sills, lateral stall stripes integrated into the rear bumper, a model specific rear diffuser and stall strip on the boot lid that helps with improving aero by reducing lift, but also to sharpen visual impressions. Customers who select the Edition 1 variant will also have the option of upgrading to ceramic compound brakes.
It doesn’t end there, as the Edition 1 treatment continues on the inside. The AMG Performance seats are upholstered in Nappa leather, with yellow contrasting top-stitching with a specific diamond-stitch pattern. This contrasting top-stitching can also be found on the door center panels, armrests, steering wheel rim, as well as on the beltlines. More yellow accents adorn the instrument cluster, alongside the AMG-specific analogue clock in IWC design and floor mats. All this is finished with a matte carbon trim in the center console.
Prices for the C63S Coupé start from RM773,888 before options, while the C63S Coupé Edition 1 will be sold at a premium at RM795,888. These are OTR prices minus road tax and insurance.
