MINI, the most sophisticated compact premium automotive brand in Malaysia today introduced the New MINI Clubman along with the more potent MINI John Cooper Works, in Countryman and Clubman forms. While the new MINI Clubman features a stunning new exterior and interior accentuations, the John Cooper Works gets a new, more powerful engine that boasts 306 hp and 450 Nm.

“Following our 2016 introduction of the MINI Clubman in Malaysia, the New MINI Clubman today is ready to champion its predecessor with new innovations and successes of its own. Featuring the iconic six doors, a new transmission system and a range of high-level digital advancements, we are thrilled to present a segment-leading vehicle packed with the familiar driving thrill that is characteristic of our MINI vehicles. The New MINI Clubman will be a symbol for outstanding driving fun in Malaysia,” said Harald Hoelzl, Managing Director of BMW Group Malaysia.

Hoelzl added, “To date, we have made over 900 deliveries from the MINI portfolio. This signifies a growing demand for MINI vehicles nationwide, and we are excited to introduce yet another MINI model to bring fun-filled driving to MINIacs everywhere.”

The New MINI Clubman features a redesigned radiator grille – for a distinctive and sporty appearance, new LED headlights and fog lights, as well as the new Seven-Speed Dual Clutch Sports Automatic Transmission that provides swift gear changes, shift comfort and optimised efficiency. The New MINI Clubman also comes in the exclusive Indian Summer Red, keeping the New MINI Clubman red-hot on the road. Motivation comes from a 2.0-litre TwinPower Turbo engine that makes 192 hp and 280 Nm, giving a century sprint of 7.2 seconds and a top speed of 228 km/h.

“Today, we present the finest evolutions of two iconic MINI vehicles we all know and love. Based on the MINI John Cooper Works Countryman and Clubman unveiled nationwide in 2017, these two new models have been given more power than ever before with a new engine that is worthy of the racetrack. Now with 306HP, the New MINI John Cooper Works 306HP variants will be astounding – taking the successes of their predecessors to even greater heights,” said Harald Hoelzl, Managing Director of BMW Group Malaysia.

“The New MINI John Cooper Works 306HP variants are amongst the most powerful models in MINI’s 60-year history. As the power source for extreme driving fun, the comprehensively redesigned four-cylinder engine in our new models are oriented towards maximum, assuring their places in the leading range of sport models in the premium compact segment,” Hoelzl added.

The New MINI John Cooper Works 306HP variants now sport a comprehensively redesigned engine with new sport brakes, cooling, and sport exhaust systems to keep the 306 hp in check. The new models are also equipped with the ALL4 all-wheel drive as standard for all-weather capability and all-terrain agility.

Aesthetically, you can differentiate a John Cooper Works by its new redesigned bumper with trim panel with open air intakes on the sides, for efficient cooling of the engine. Also new are the front grille design, which includes the familiar JCW honeycomb cues. Open mesh inserts are also present in the upper and lower part of the front grille due to an additional external cooler, with larger functional air inlets at the front, in the middle and at the side. There are larger tailpipes too, at 85 mm, to accommodate the powerful JCW sound. Additionally, both the New MINI John Cooper Works 306HP variants are fitted with the exclusive 19-inch JCW Circuit Spoke Two-Tone wheels, redesigned with edgier racing-inspired looks.

Powering the two new models is a comprehensively redesigned four-cylinder engine derived from the two-litre drive in the MINI Cooper S Clubman and MINI Cooper S Countryman. The new engine features a modification in the crankshaft drive and the latest generation of the MINI TwinPower Turbo technology. With a capacity of 1,998 cc, the engine in the New MINI John Cooper Works 306HP variants produces 306 hp at 5000-6250 rpm, and a peak torque of 450 Nm at 1750-4500 rpm. Both models have a top speed limited to 250 km/h. The New MINI John Cooper Works Clubman 306HP can do the century sprint in 4.9 seconds, while the New MINI John Cooper Works Countryman 306HP in 5.1 seconds.

The compression ratio of the new engine has been reduced from 10.2 to 9.5 to match the increased system charging pressure. Additionally, the turbocharger integrated in the exhaust manifold is fitted with a blow-off valve that contributes to its optimised response characteristics. The air intake duct has also been redeveloped and dethrottled as far as possible. Spontaneous power delivery is supported by the latest generation of direct petrol injection, while the new multi-hole fuel injectors arranged between the valves enable an increased flow rate, transporting the fuel to the combustion chambers under an injection pressure of up to 350ba.
