Seen as one of the elites of the most prestigious and distinguished car manufacturers in the world, Maserati is a constant reminder in which luxury, sport and style can all be represented as one.
Naza Italia, the official importer and distributor for Maserati in Malaysia, has launched the 2017 Maserati Ghibli and Ghibli S, two months after its official debut at this year’s Paris Motor Show. The luxury sport saloon remains faithful to its heritage, offering unmistakable class, top-notch performance and a thrilling yet comfortable driving experience which equates to a more desirable premium saloon than ever before.
Datuk Wira Haji SM Faisal Tan Sri SM Nasimuddin, Group Executive Chairman of the Naza World Group of Companies, said “The 2017 Ghibli marks an important milestone for us. The Ghibli is our best seller and it is an honour for us to present to the local market the new and improved range. The Ghibli demonstrates all those values you expect from a Maserati in the high-end full size sedan segment: class-leading Italian design and an unique Maserati driving experience – combined with affordability and usability.”
Starting with the interior, Maserati’s 2017 saloon benefits from substantial upgrades as well as new technical content. The central dashboard has been redesigned to accommodate a high-resolution 8.4” screen with multi touch technology, and is compatible with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone mirroring functions. The new design also features a rotary knob for the user to navigate thru its options and features.
To further increase the customizability for Maserati’s models, specific luxury and sports options are available for the Ghibli.
From a technological standpoint, a new Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) package is available which includes Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Blind Spot Alert, Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Warning with Advanced Brake Assist, and Automated Emergency Braking. An additional Surround View Camera is available in combination with the ADAS package.
The Ghibli has also been further perfected in terms of aero-acoustic comfort, due to the adoption of new technologies with significant improvements in noise insulation and reduced cabin noise have been achieved. To further improve passenger comfort, an Air Quality Sensor is now standard equipment.
The exterior design stands out for its coupé-like philosophy and several unique features in the high-end E segment, like the distinctive C-pillar that bears the iconic ‘Saetta’ logo, the frameless doors, the pronounced grille reminiscent of iconic Maseratis of the 1950s, and the four chrome-plated exhaust pipes on all versions.
The Luxury and Sport packages personalizes and enhances the exterior finish to create a deeper focused environment for the driver and passengers. With the adoption of the Luxury package, the Ghibli’s cabin is even further refined thanks to the Zegna Edition Silk and Premium Leather upholstery. With the Sport package, the given treatment reflects the legendary racing heritage of every Maserati and is immediately recognizable thanks to the new sports seats and sports steering wheel with aluminium shift paddles. Two Carbon packages, one with exterior and the other with interior elements, are now available as a further customization option and an upgrade for the Sport package.
In terms of performance, both the Ghibli and Ghibli S feature the acclaimed Ferrari built Twin-Turbo 3.0-litre V6 powerplant paired with an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission, which features the Start&Stop function yet is Euro 6 compliant.
With that, the Ghibli now delivers 350 hp, 20 hp more than the previous model year, an increased top speed of 267 km/h, and a 0 to 100 km/h time of just 5.5 seconds. The Ghibli S comes with a higher output of 410 hp, accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 5.0 seconds and reaches a top speed of 285 km/h.
The Ghibli shares parts of its core architecture with the Quattroporte, including its chassis, suspension layout, V6 engines and the ZF 8-speed automatic transmission. It is, however 293 mm shorter and 50 kg lighter than the flagship Italian saloon.
Dynamic and precise handling is guaranteed by the car’s perfectly balanced 50:50 weight distribution, while the sophisticated suspension system and the standard limited slip differential creates enjoyment out of every drive. The Ghibli has been awarded a five-star Euro NCAP collision rating, giving the driver and passengers complete safety and a peace of mind when an unfortunate incident occurs.
The 2017 Ghibli and Ghibli S are available starting from RM 618,800.00 and RM 708,800.00 respectively, including a 3 years/60,000km service package. The price includes local duties and taxes.
