Petron to introduce new octane rated Blaze 100 fuel in Malaysia?

We’ve been hearing rumours that Petron Malaysia may soon introduce a new octane rated RON100 petrol in select petrol stations across the Klang Valley. This was further fueled by an update on Petron Malaysia’s Facebook here. Based on the tip we received, and since the #r3GTI was running low on fuel, I decided to check out a couple of stations to see if the hearsay was true.

Our tip off mentioned that only a select few stations would be first selected to carry Blaze 100, the octane rated RON100 fuel. and that this would happen in stages:

  • Jan 4th 2016 – Petron Taman Tun, Petron Federal Mile 3, Petron Batu 3 (Shah Alam)
  • Jan 5th 2016 – Petron Damansara Kayu Ara, Petron Kesas (West bound)
  • Jan 6th 2016 – Petron Jalan Maarof (Bangsar), Petron Sg Besi toll

Having checked out several of the said locations, we found that none currently stocked the RON100 fuel, nor was it advertised yet. However, the Petron station in Bangsar had a “Harap Maaf. Rosak.” sign on all their Blaze 97 pumps. We asked the guy behind the counter, who responded he wasn’t very sure but hinted that they may start selling RON100 fuel in a day or two.

Our tip goes on to mention that these stations that will have the new octane rated fuel will be sold at the current RON97 price of RM2.25 per litre, and that the price would later be revised on 15th Jan 2016, to RM3.00 per litre; same as Shell’s premium V-Power Racing. There’s no definitive answer out there for now, but we’ll update here as soon as we find out more information.
