Sime Darby Auto Performance (SDAP) is celebrating the first outing of the new third generation Porsche Cayenne in Malaysia. This globally successful model is a completely new development and combines even more of the typical Porsche performance with excellent everyday practicality.
Quick highlights of the new third generation Cayenne include an overall reduction of up to 65 kgs, thanks to intelligent lightweight construction. There are also a host of new, powerful turbo engines, a new eight-speed Tiptronic S gearbox, new chassis systems and innovative Porsche Advanced Cockpit display and control concept with total connectivity takes both sportiness and comfort to the next level. Despite its steadfast focus on performance and comfort, the new Cayenne remains perfectly suited to off-road use.
“The new Cayenne promises to be more Porsche and more Cayenne than ever. Our primary objective was to further highlight the character of the vehicle. The new Cayenne is now more precise, elegant, athletic and expressive. The Cayenne has also been digitalised and networked throughout by providing another level of digital connectivity to the cockpit. This includes versatility, quality and new cutting-edge driver assistance systems that offer both driver and passengers extraordinary comfort. This is how the Cayenne makes the Porsche experience even more fascinating but remains as a genuine sports car for five,” said Arnt Bayer, Chief Executive Officer of Sime Darby Auto Performance.
For now, the new Cayenne will be available in two guises; Cayenne and Cayenne S. The standard car is powered by a 3.0 litre turbocharged V6 that makes 340 hp and 450 Nm, while the more powerful Cayenne S curiously gets a smaller 2.9 litre bi-turbo V6 that produces 440 hp and 540 Nm. Equipped with the optional Sport Chrono Package, the pair will complete the century sprint in 6.2 seconds and 4.9 seconds respectively; small numbers for such a huge vehicle.
Also interesting is how, for the first time, the Cayenne features mixed tyre set-up (wider on the rear) as well as rear-axle steering. In addition, its on-road capabilities are further improved by active all-wheel drive as standard, Porsche 4D Chassis Control, three-chamber air suspension, the Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) electronic roll stabilisation system, and the newly developed high-performance Porsche Surface Coated Brake (PSCB).
The new Cayenne is available for pre-order from any of the three Porsche Centres in Malaysia:
