Another interesting Porsche hits our marketplace today, one we’ve driven before and loved. Porsche’s 981-model Cayman GT4 was first revealed to the world back at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, before getting its official launch in Malaysia towards the end of 2015 with a sticker price of RM840,000. At time of writing, the GT4 maintains its position as Porsche’s most-hardcore mid-engined and road-legal sportscar.
Motivation comes from a familiar 3.8 litre naturally aspirated flat-six lump that makes 385 hp and 420 Nm. The GT4 caters to the proper Porsche enthusiast, sold only in a six-speed manual with a mechanical differential lock and Porsche’s Torque Vectoring (PTV) system. It dispatches the century sprint in 4.4 seconds, going to a terminal velocity of 295 km/h. Perhaps the GT4 isn’t the fastest GT-car in the Porsche stable, but you can be sure that she sits as one of the most engaging and rewarding to drive.
The Porsche Cayman GT4 takes cues from several of its bigger brothers. It has an adjustable chassis (borrowed mostly from a 911 GT3), with wider front track and lower ride height. You get a roll-cage in the rear, and carbon-fibre reinforced polymer (CFRP) full bucket seats which takes cues off a 918 Spyder. Stopping power comes from 380 mm ventilated brake discs on four corners, again from a 911 GT3. On the car we have for sale, this has been upgraded to Porsche’s Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) system, at cost.
Some quick details of this car:
MY2016 Porsche 981 Cayman GT4 — RM710,000 (duty paid)
– Malaysian-spec car
– Mileage <500 km
– Sport Chrono Package
– Sport exhaust
– Never tracked
– Carmine Red (rare colour)
The Cayman GT4 will appeal to a true Porsche enthusiast, one who isn’t looking for a daily driven machine, but one that delivers a visceral driving experience for weekends. While white and yellow were common launch colours, the unit we have for sale is in Carmine Red and with just 380 km on the odometer at time of writing, we are almost certain this is the lowest mileage Cayman GT4 available for sale right now in Malaysia.
This car is duty paid and currently parked in Langkawi. She is looking for a new home, promising the new owner plenty of glorious drive time.
