Who would believe that the evergreen Porsche 911 is 57 years old? And what better way to celebrate the iconic sportscar on 9-11 day! Yes, you read that right: 9th November is 9-11 and I don’t think we’re exaggerating when we say many others are celebrating today as we are.
So, some quick information about the Porsche 911. The first one was shown to the world in 1964, and over the years, we’ve seen a total 8 internal models (911, 930, 964, 993, 996, 997, 991, 992). The first Turbo made its debut on the 930, whilst the 993 saw the last of the air-cooled models. With the 996, we had the first water-cooled 911 and, arguably the most underrated 911 ever.
Today, the nomenclature can be a little confusing, considering that every 911 model (bar the special series and RS cars) are now turbocharged. Yes — that of course includes the current 992 model Porsche 911 Turbo. Anyway, if you’re reading this, you’re likely a 911 enthusiast. So let’s just stop here and share some of the cars we’ve fallen in love with over the years.
Enjoy.
